Finding Margin in Business and in Life

ABOUT

Hi!  I am Chuck Underwood, the founder of UCentric Solutions, LLC.   In 1992, I began my career with a small John Deere dealership in central Kansas.  After serving five years there as the Office/Accounting Manager, we moved to Salina, KS, where I spent more than a decade working as the Assistant Controller for Kennedy and Coe, LLC, one of the nation’s largest regional accounting firms.   I earned my CPA in 1998.  Prior to starting UCentric Solutions, LLC,  my most recent experience was serving as the Chief Financial Officer of G.L. Huyett, a progressive wholesaler and manufacturer of non-threaded fasteners in Minneapolis, KS for over 3 years.

As a CPA with over twenty years of private sector experience providing and managing in-house accounting and managerial services within the retail, professional services, wholesale and manufacturing industries, I have a solid understanding of the challenges entrepreneurs of small businesses face and partners with them to provide accounting solutions that meet their needs.

I am a lifelong resident of Kansas, married to my best friend for over 20 years, Jennifer.  We’ve been blessed with two wonderful and quirky children.  We’re active in our local church and I serve on the corporate and school board of Salina Christian Academy, a private Christian school founded in 2003.  For more information on SCA, click on this link: www.salinachristianacademy.org.

Over the length of my career I have found I am a passionate advocate for finding margin; finding margin in business and in life.  In my day job I am responsible for the finances of several companies, including my own.   An important part of what I do is look for opportunities to increase the margins of those businesses.   Financial margins serve as a guardrail to hedge against the challenges and missteps that occur when operating  and growing a business.  It provides balance and stability when storms come, and we know they do!   In the same token, margin is needed in our personal lives.  Within the margins of our lives, we find the space to develop the relationships that matter and spend time nurturing ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually.  These give us strength to endure the difficult times of life, and interestingly enough, serve as the source of great creativity.

My sincerest hope and desire is to encourage those I come in contact with just one simple thought.   Living life with margin can be done!

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog!  I hope it is a resource for great information and encouragement to you and look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas as well!

Chuck
